The first time was good but the second time was better. Here we are referring to the follow up review of the compact “City” car designed global Honda automobiles and assembled in Thailand.

The styling still feels fresh, tight and compact. It also has that robust Honda look. Plus the cool, red BMW looking brake light cluster.

Among all the 1,5 liter “B-segment” or sub compact sedans the Honda City is still perhaps the best looking. And you'll see a lot of them on the roads.

Our test drive this time was Bangkok stop-and-go-city-driving. This is where the Honda City is in its right element. Lane shifting, U-turns, reversing and parking in crowded shopping mall subterranean parking lots. Our silver metallic passed the test with flying colors.

For the weekend we took the Honda City on the express way tarmac leading out of Bangkok to the green hills of Khao Yai. A small car on a big multi lane motorway – a piece of cake for the 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine with a smooth 5-speed automatic transmission The newly designed suspension did soak up the cracks and bumps on the asphalt. This is a solid built car.

Fuel economy or rather fuel consumption as Carsanook Magazine prefers to call it. Is more than adequate. Approximate 12 kpl to 14 kilometer per liter. Depending on how heavy your foot is on the accelerator. And the Honda City runs on E20 (ethanol 20 percent) as well as Gasohol 91 or Gasohol 91 plus regular petrol (benzine).

Cock pit and cabin design comes with quality materials in the dashboard, and a sporty three spoke steering wheel with with multi function audio controls for the driver. For the passengers – space more space than you can expect sub compact sedan. The upholstery is carbon black feels good and looks good. In car entertainment MP3, USB access and easy AM/FM dials and buttons. No fuzzy logic!

Arriving in the highland of Khao Yai with winding roads through picturesque vineyards. The little-big Honda CITY proved to be a fun car to drive on the highway and in the COUNTRY as well.

Carsanook Magazine verdict: A well designed and built compact urban sedan.
Suitable for small families and young executives on the GO!

Price range: Honda City starts at THB 534,000 for the manual transmission model and the top of the range automatic model with all the bells and whistles is priced at THB 649,000.
