Hyundai Motor (Thailand) Co., Ltd. is gearing up for a record sales year. The recently introduced Hyundai Tucson SUV has reached 100 units and the company's overall sales has reached 1,582 units.

By the end of the year Hyundai is planning to introduce its Grand Starex MPV which is powered by a 2,5-liter common rail diesel engine. The Grand Starex will be imported under the AFTA, Asian Free Trade-Agreement. The Grand Starex shares the same platform as the H1 van, but will postioned higher up in the MPV market with a sticker price from THB 1,7 million to THB 1,8 million. Sales are expected to reach 200 units per year.

However, Hyundai's major model in Thaland is the H1 van, which contributes 70 per cent of its total sales. The H1's main attraction is its frugal, poerful diesel engine and spacious, confortable interior.

Presently Hyundai has 21 dealers in Bangkok and the major provinces offering a wide range of vehicles including passenger cars, MPVs, SUVs and pickups.
