Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd. announces the appointment of its new President, Mr. Kyoichi Tanada, the successor to Mr. Mitsuhiro Sonoda who has been promoted as Managing Officer of Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan, and the President of Toyota Motor Asia Pacific Engineering and Manufacturing, Thailand (TMAP-EM) and Toyota Motor Asia Pacific PTE LTD., Singapore (TMAP-MS).

Mr. Mitsuhiro Sonoda has served as President of Toyota Motor Thailand since January 2006. During the past two and one half years, he has implemented many effective business policies for Toyota Motor Thailand that have enabled the company to grow and maintain its number one ranking in the Thai automotive market, even during the current economic downturn. Moreover, Mr. Sonoda has initiated numerous projects in line with Toyota‘s “Global Vision 2020”, which is the major global policy of Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan, designed to develop the most advanced technology and effect sustainable growth of society and the environment. Examples of these have been: The support and encouragement to develop alternative fueled vehicles, such as the production of E20 cars, Bi-Fuel Consumption vehicles (petrol and CNG), a cooperative effort with PTT for research and development of new Bio-Diesel – BHD (Bio-Hydrogenated Diesel), and most recently, the production of Hybrid Cars in Thailand, which combines two power sources; the petrol engine and the electric motor.

The support of the “Eco-Forest Project” and “Biotope” at Toyota’s Ban Pho Plant-- a plant that has been selected to be one of five sustainable plants of global Toyota , with a robust objective to produce Eco-friendly products.

Mr.Mitsuhiro Sonoda's successor Mr. Kyoichi Tanada, who is 55 years old, began his career at Toyota Motor Corporation in 1979 after graduating from the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. His more than 30 years experience in international business has given him insight into global business management. Before his assignment as the new president of Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd., Mr. Tanada served as General Manager of Toyota Motor Corporation’s Asia-Oceania and Middle-East Project Division. His past experience and broad vision will be an important success factor in driving Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd to continue to achieve further growth and good corporate citizenship within Thai society.
